AMD Threadripper 7000 just around the corner
Clearly there is a lot of happening with regard to the AMD “Storm Peak”, the company’s upcoming HEDT platform featuring Zen4 architecture. Leaks have surfaced, shedding light on the unreleased Threadripper PRO 7000 processors, which have yet to receive official acknowledgment from the company. While prior speculations hinted at a delayed arrival for the Threadripper 7000 series, recent indicators suggest that its launch is now swiftly approaching.
Adding to this unfolding narrative is ASRock’s official confirmation of the nomenclature for AMD’s next HEDT motherboard chipset, labeled as TRX50. A fresh motherboard entry, designated as TRX50 WS, has recently emerged alongside updates for Z790, B650, and A620 motherboards:

TRX50 can be regarded as the successor to the previous sTR4-based TRX40 motherboard, which accommodated the Threadripper 5000 series. It’s worth noting that the forthcoming Threadripper series will demand a new socket configuration, DDR5 memory, and won’t maintain compatibility with prior series and motherboards. Consequently, manufacturers like ASRock will need to introduce a new motherboard lineup to support these upcoming CPUs.
As the nomenclature implies, the TRX50 WS motherboard is not tailored for the everyday consumer or gaming audience. Its primary focus lies in facilitating high-core-count (up to 96 cores) and high-power CPUs (up to 350W), with an emphasis on extending PCIe Gen5 lanes. This extension allows users to concurrently utilize multiple devices, such as graphics cards, without compromising the performance of other components, particularly storage.
The most recent update to the TR7000 lineup is the 7975WX SKU, seemingly using a 32-core configuration. This means we are now aware of at least 4 models employing 16, 32, 64 and 96-cores, all of which were listed below.
The detailed specifications of the TRX50 chipset itself remain undisclosed. Furthermore, it remains uncertain whether this chipset will employ the SP5 or SP6 socket, both of which have been mentioned in connection with the Threadripper 7000 series.
