ASRock quietly launches its first-ever low profile graphics card
Intel Arc A380 gets low-profile treatment from ASRock.
Introducing ASRock’s latest addition to their graphics card lineup – the first-ever low profile design released by the company. While ASRock has been in the GPU market since the Radeon 500 series, previous designs lacked the necessary power efficiency to justify a low profile form factor. However, with the availability of Intel’s Arc A380 GPU, which doesn’t require external power connectors and relies solely on the 75W provided through the PCIe slot, ASRock figured it was a perfect SKU for this type of graphics card.
Diverging from the factory-overclocked Challenger ITX design, this model comes with a default GPU Clock of 2.0 GHz straight out of the box. Like any other A380 variant, it is equipped with 6GB of GDDR6 memory attached to a 96-bit memory bus. The memory operates at an impressive 15.5 Gbps, resulting in a bandwidth of 186 GB/s.

It’s important to note that this graphics card is not intended for gaming purposes and doesn’t pretend to be one. The A380 cards excel as secondary GPU solutions for efficient AV1 encoding, making their small form factor an even more appealing choice compared to competing products.

Although ASRock’s low profile A380 is not the first of its kind, as MSI had already showcased a similar design several months prior, it even offers a similar dual fan cooling solution as the MSI model. Additionally, both cards share a limitation when it comes to display connectors. Instead of featuring four connectors, ASRock’s card comes with a combination of DisplayPort and HDMI 2.0b, including the noteworthy inclusion of DisplayPort 2.0.
