AMD RDNA3 GPUs: “Plum Bonito”, “Wheat Nas”, “Hotpink Bonefish”

According to Angstronomics, the specifications of the AMD Navi 3X GPU series did not change since 2020.

Flagship AMD Navi 31 with 96MB Infinity Cache?

The site has alleged final specs of each of the Navi 3X GPUs, including their code names and Infinity Cache sizes. The size of IC was part of the recent debate, which has seen sizes of 192MB or even higher being mentioned. It seems that the Infinity Size of Navi 31 is actually smaller than expected, reportedly 96MB in one stack configuration.

It is alleged that AMD made a 1-hi (3D stacked) variant with twice the capacity, but the performance benefits were not good enough. For this reason the main Navi 31 SKU reportedly has 96MB of Infinity Cache with the cut-down variant featuring 80MB.

Navi 32 with up to 7680 Stream Processors

There is also a spec update for Navi 32. Instead of 32 WorkGroup Processors, this GPU supposedly has only 30. This means that the full silicon offers up to 7680 Stream Processors, not 8192 as claimed before.

No changes to the memory specs are reported, but the Infinity Cache size is up to 64MB for unstacked version and 128MB for 3D stacked variant. However, the latter might have been abandoned due to cost.

New (smaller) die sizes

Angstronomics claims different sizes for the Navi 31 GCD and MCD dies: 308 mm² and 37.5 mm² respectively. This is a smaller GCD size than previously reported 370 mm². A full Navi 31 die with four MCDs would have around 533 mm² area.

Navi 32 which has identical MCDs, but smaller GCD, would feature a full die of 350 mm² (with GCD at 200mm²), which is again smaller than rumored 440 mm². Contrary to the rumors of 400 mm² Navi 33, this chip would too be much smaller, around 203 mm² claims the site.

New cooler design and up to 2x 8-pin power connectors

The article over at Angstronomics has many new details, one of them is an information of a new reference cooler design. The reference design for the Navi 31 GPU reportedly still has 3 fans, but it is slightly taller than Radeon RX 6000 series. There is a new 3-stripe accent close to the dual 8-pin power connectors. This claim would indirectly suggest there is no PCIe Gen5 16-pin power connector on RDNA3 GPUs.
