AMD unveils the packaging of its first HEDT CPU.

The Ryzen Threadripper is about to take Intel by surprise. Never before there was an option of pure desktop 16-core CPU.

In a tweet, Lisa Su shows the world’s first Threadripper packaging, which is likely to be sent to a reviewer.

Right behind the glass, we get a peek at a massive Threadripper die. The packaging kind of reminds me of an old TV set.

The Threadripper is currently expected to launch on August 10th, with more info coming at SIGGRAPH 2017.
