Two announcements of graphics giants.

Radeon Navi gets Pro W5700

AMD is set to announce Radeon Pro W5700, a new Navi 10 graphics card. It’s a model with a new board design (PCB has changed compared with RX 5700). The board features dual 8-pin power connectors and five mini-DisplayPorts and USB Type-C connector (a VirtualLink?).

We are in a process of confirming the specs, but we expect Navi 10 2560 Stream Processors and 8 or 16GB GDDR6 256-bit.

Jensen unveils Magnum IO

Today at Supercomputing 2019 Jensen Huang will unveil Magnum IO. It’s a new interconnect technology aimed at supercomputers. We do not have any other details than provided below.

Quote from NVIDIA:

  • GPU-Accelerated I/O and Storage Software to Eliminate Data Transfer Bottlenecks for AI, Data Science, and HPC Workloads
  • High-Bandwidth, Low-Latency Massive Storage Access with Lower CPU Utilization
  • Delivers up to 20x faster data throughput on multi-server, multi-GPU computing nodes.
