AMD Storm Peak: six models up to 96 Zen4 cores and 5.35GHz clocks

Wccftech previously disclosed the release date for the Threadripper PRO 7000WX series now asserts to have the full specifications. Surprisingly, there are no major surprises, except for the introduction of a new SKU.

The flagship model, the PRO 7995WX, remains consistent with prior reports, boasting 96 Zen4 cores. With a 350W TDP, this part offers a base clock of 2.5 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.1 GHz, which are the lowest frequencies within the entire lineup. Moreover, this part exclusively supports 128 PCIe Gen5 lanes, while the rest of the stack provides support for up to 64 lanes. Combining the 96 cores, this CPU will enjoy access to 384 MB of L3 cache, the largest among all the next-gen Threadripper SKUs.

Moving on to the 7985WX, it features 64 cores clocked at 3.2 GHz base and 5.35 GHz boost. The same boost clock applies to all other models. This part accommodates 64 PCIe Gen5 lanes and is equipped with 256MB of L3 Cache, maintaining the 350W TDP.

The 7975WX, by contrast, features half the cores of the 7985WX, totaling 32 cores. It boasts a higher base clock of 4.0 GHz and the same 5.35 GHz boost. The L3 cache is also halved, coming in at 128 MB.

The leak also reveals the existence of a 16-core Threadripper 7955WX and a 12-core Threadripper 7945WX. These processors are designed as more budget-friendly options for consumers who seek a high-end platform with advanced PCIe support rather than the most powerful CPUs.

Regarding memory support for Storm Peak, it’s reported to be DDR5-5200, potentially matching the specifications of the Ryzen 7000 series. However, it remains unconfirmed whether this support is for single or dual rank memory.

Still unofficially, the Threadripper PRO 7000WX series are set to debut on October 19th. It is likely when we will learn about the pricing, which is not expected to be cheap.
