Threadripper PRO means business.
AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO specifications leaked
AMD is launching four Ryzen Threadripper PRO processors featuring Zen2 architecture. As explained by AMD, the PRO series are designed for: professional studios, designers, engineers and data scientists, while the original consumer Threadripper series is meant for: enthusiast gamers, streamers and editors.
The Threadripper PRO series will support up 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, a double of what the consumer series supported. More changes are coming to the memory support. The Threadripper PRO series will support up to 2TB of UDIMM (Unbuffered DIMM), RDIMM (Registered DIMM), LRDIMM (Load-Reduced DIMM) and 3DS (three-dimensional stacking) RDIMM EEC memory.
Similarly to Ryzen PRO, Threadripper PRO will feature AMD PRO Technologies, such as Pro Security, Pro manageability, or PRO business ready (software stability and planned availability).
AMD is set to launch four Ryzen TR PRO processors. The 3995WX and 3975WX will mirror consumer parts core counts, but the frequencies will be 100 to 200 MHz lower. For the PRO series, AMD is also launching 12 and 16 core Threadrippers. These are: Threadripper 3955WX (16-core) and 3945WX (12-core). Their boost clock is set to 4.3 GHz.
At the time of writing, the pricing of the new series remained unknown, but the series is expected to debut next week, on July 14th to be precise.
