Leak confirms AMD Threadripper 7000 will feature up to 96 cores and 5.1 GHz clocks
AMD HEDT is back with more cores and higher frequencies.
It looks like AMD will finally be upgrading the core count for its Threadripper series. The long-delayed HEDT platform featuring large CPU count is back with Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX featuring 96 cores and 192 threads. This is the first upgrade to core count since Threadripper 3000 series.
The CPU was attached to HP Z6 G5 Workstation system, which might be among the first prebuilt platforms by OEM partners by AMD. As we know, the Threadripper PRO series is expected to take a priority in the AMD HEDT lineup, with no sign of the non-PRO consumer models yet.
The 7995WX CPU has just surfaced on Geekbench, revealing a new configuration with 96 cores. While the base frequency is inaccurately displayed, what’s interesting is that the leaked information suggests the 96-core CPU could achieve a boost clock of 5.14 GHz. This insight is confirmed through detailed Geekbench output.

Among other changes to the Threadripper platform, one must also mention an upgrade to the newer memory standard DDR5 being used here for the first time. The benchmarking software does not display this information, however, it does indicate that a memory configuration of 503.27 GB (512 GB) is being utilized.
Furthermore, the score of 2095 single-core and 81408 multi-core points in Geekbench 5.5 puts the CPU among the fastest on the market. In fact, as pointed out by Everest, this is a new world record as long as HWBOT data is considered.

If rumors are to be believed, Threadripper PRO 7000 is to be released by the end of this quarter, but the sudden spike of leaks featuring these CPUs may suggest that the launch even closer than expected.
