No, there is no $100 discount on Ryzen 9 7950X3D

There were reports that AMD might have just lowered the price for their flagship Ryzen 16-core CPU, but sadly that was not the case.

Sadly or not, this means that customers who had bought the processor just 2 weeks ago, would now feel regret. The good (and bad news) is that there is no price cut at all. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D still costs $699 at least officially because availability is still a big problem.

AMD has now confirmed it was an error on official webstore. The algorithm showing starting price was fed incorrect data, in this case from BestBuy who for some reason were showing the CPU at $599. However, upon clicking, the price was still $699. Needless to say, this sparked the news cycle that AMD is now themselves confirming new price.

The error was captured by Wccftech:

AMD has now confirmed the error to Tom’s Hardware, who were among the first to share the news about the potential price cut. The mistake has immediately sparked discussion and targeted AMD with unflattering words. At the same time, the price change did affect another CPU, the 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D is now available at $549 through some retailers like MicroCenter. This information was not a mistake.
