AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D now available at $585
Good news, the first of the recently launched Ryzen 7000X3D SKUs is now cheaper.
Exactly one month after its release, AMD lowers the price of their Ryzen 9 7900X3D processor. A $15 price cut has been implemented on Amazon and Newegg, lowering the price to $585 from $599. A price change for this model was inevitable, given it was priced higher than the 16-core 7950X.
The 7900X3D is one of the three Zen4 desktop processors equipped with 3D V-Cache technology. The price change did not affect the 16-core flagship 7950X3D, which is hardly available at any store right now. Furthermore, AMD is yet to release its 8-core 7800X3D SKU on April 6th, so it is far too early to discuss price changes for other X3D models.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D price:
The 12-core X3D part was not AMD’s focus for the February 28th launch, as the company provided no samples to the press. The exact reasons for this decision are unknown, but it took two weeks before we had a good understanding of how capable the cut-down Raphael-X3D part is.
According to post-launch analysis from 3DCenter.org, the 7900X3D is trailing behind the Core i9-13900K in terms of overall gaming performance while costing more. There is a 2% to 10% gap between both SKUs, depending on the review and testing methodology. The price adjustment accounts for just a 2.3% change, which may still not be enough to convince gamers.
