AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX 6nm Zen3+ APU to feature “Radeon 680M” Navi2 iGPU

AMD branding its next-gen integrated GPUs as Radeon 600M series

AMD RDNA2-based integrated graphics are so powerful, that they need a new name.

According to a rumor from Wccftech, AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX will not only feature 6nm Zen3+ and RDNA2 microarchitectures, but also a new marketing name for the latter. The site claims that next-gen Navi2 graphics will be called Radeon RX 680M. This particular variant is to be used by Ryzen 9 6900HX, at this moment known as the flagship part of the “Rembrandt” APU series. At this moment is it unclear how many Compute Units would 680M support, but Rembrandt silicon is already confirmed to offer up to 12 units.

As expected, the Ryzen 9 6900HX is supposedly an 8-core and 16-thread part with 16MB of L3 cache and 4MB of L2 Cache, Wccftech clarifies. Being a part of the HX-series means that the TDP will be unclocked beyond 45W, but the wattage will depend on the implementation by laptop manufacturers. Interestingly, it is also revealed that 6900HX’s boost clock is 4.6 GHz, the same frequency as 5900HX.

Leaked roadmap mentioning AMD Rembrandt APU

AMD’s new APU will support DDR5-4800 memory, claims the report. There is no mention of DDR4 support though, which is something that the Intel Alder Lake-P series is going to offer.

Earlier this week it was revealed that RDNA2 desktop 65W APUs are now set to launch in the third quarter of next year. It is very likely that desktop APUs will also have a new name for their RDNA2 iGPUs.

AMD is set to announce its Ryzen 6000 laptop processor series during CES 2022 press conference planned for January 4th.
