AMD Ryzen 7 5800H Cezanne gets a frequency boost over Renoir

A new benchmark score of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processors has been leaked through Geekbench. This CPU is the upcoming high-end 8-core mobile processor that will be offered with new notebook designs starting from next year. The CPU will be a successor to Ryzen 7 4800H which despite limited supply has clearly been the most popular choice among gamers.

The upcoming Ryzen 5000H series will be AMD’s first mobile CPU to feature Zen3 core architecture. It will also be equipped with (not so new anymore) AMD Vega graphics. While a GPU clock boost is indeed expected to be higher with this generation, the major GPU architecture upgrade is not expected till Cezanne’s successor arrives with integrated Navi GPU (most likely codenamed Rembrandt).

AMD Ryzen 7 5800H is an octa-core CPU with 16-threads enabled. It will operate in a nominal TDP of 45W, which is probably going to be configurable within the 35 to 54W range, same as Renoir. With a base clock of 3.0 GHz and a boost clock of 4.45 MHz (as reported by the software), we are looking at a 300MHz and 250 MHz frequency increase over the predecessor.

The processor has been tested with Acer Nitro AN515-45 notebook featuring ‘CZ Scala-CAS’ motherboard. The software does not mention any discrete GPU present in the system. The laptop features 16GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 memory:

When it comes to the performance, itis actually very easy to find Acer Nitro laptops from the same series but featuring 4800H “Renoir” silicon. That sets a good baseline for comparison. The CPU scored 1475 points in the single-core benchmark and 7630 points in the multi-core.

According to Geekbench, AMD Ryzen 7 4800H default score is 1090 points in ST and 6608 points in MT benchmarks, which means that 5800H is respectively 35% and 15% faster.

In best cases then 4800H scores around 1200 points in a single-threaded benchmark, which would make Cezanne around 20% faster than Zen2 based APU. The multi-thread score for 4800H ranges from 4000 to 7000-ish points. Below we attached one of the best scores of the Acer AN515 laptop equipped with 4800H listed by Geekbench:
