AMD Ryzen 5000 family still growing, Gigabyte confirms Ryzen 3 5100 with Cezanne die

AMD launches another Cezanne desktop CPU without built-in graphics

Gigabyte has confirmed another Ryzen 5000 processor.

Contrary to expectations, the AM4 platform has not met its demise just yet. AMD has made a firm commitment to providing long-term support for its platform and is even considering the introduction of additional processors if necessary. While the exact number and specifications of these upcoming processors have not been confirmed by the company, at least three new SKUs have been launched within a span of just one month.

The first processor to hit the market was the Ryzen 7 5700, which is based on the Cezanne silicon architecture but lacks the integrated Vega GPU that is a core feature of the original 5000G-series. As of now, this particular model has not made an appearance at any retailers, leading to strong speculation that it may be an OEM exclusive.

Simultaneously, AMD officially released the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, a modified version of the Vermeer-X processor with a large 96MB L3 cache. Unfortunately, this processor will have a limited release, exclusively available through a single retailer.

The third processor to be introduced is the quad-core Ryzen 3 5100, which also appears to be based on the Cezanne silicon architecture, similar to the Ryzen 7 5700. AMD has refrained from using Vermeer silicon for processors below the Ryzen 5 5600 tier. Therefore, there are no models for a direct comparison. The closest we get is the Ryzen 3 5300G APU, which still retains the iGPU support. However, the G series variant boasts a 200 MHz higher clock speed.

It is worth noting that rumors regarding the potential launch of the Ryzen 5100 processor have been circulating for quite some time. In fact, there were speculations about the release of this CPU alongside the Ryzen 5700 and 4700 desktop CPUs over a year ago. While some of those have been unveiled this month, the Ryzen 4700 (most likely based on Renoir die) is yet to make its official debut.
