AMD Ryzen 9 4900H: 8 cores and 16 threads in laptop
Just yesterday we covered a leak from Reddit, where AMD’s first 8-core mobile CPU has been spotted in the 3DMark database. Today we are learning that AMD is not stopping at the low-power U-Series, but the manufacturer is also making a big push in the high-performance mobile market with the H-series.
According to Wccftech, who are quoting Mobile01 forums, AMD is set to launch 8-core and 16-thread Ryzen 9 4900H and Ryzen 7 4800H high-performance mobile CPUs soon. This is an upgrade over the Ryzen 7 4700U part we covered yesterday, as the H series have SMT (multi-threading) enabled. The Ryzen 4000 series H-processors are said to be 45W parts, competing directly with Intel’s 9th Gen Core H-series.
Furthermore, a leak from LambdaTek has been discovered, where yet unreleased parts have been listed alongside ASUS GA401 and GA502 notebooks. The fastest model features Ryzen 7 4800H processor, but there is no sign of rumored Ryzen 9 4900H part there.
The prices range from 1680 EUR to 1440 EUR for 4800H-based laptops. A rumored faster version “Ryzen 7 4800HS” is currently listed at 1904 EUR. A cheaper CPU named Ryzen 5 4600H is available at 1201 EUR with HS-variant listed at 1321 EUR. All prices include VAT.
