Alan Wake 2 driver from AMD
Last week, AMD released a new driver that includes support for three games: Assassin’s Creed Mirage, The Lords of the Fallen, and Forza Motorsport. The just launched Alan Wake 2 didn’t receive support through the standard official driver branch. Instead, AMD has provided a dedicated driver optimized exclusively for this game.
The driver’s webpage may not explicitly detail performance improvements for Alan Wake 2, but it is worth noting that the driver is specifically named “For Alan Wake 2” and lists the game in the resolved issues section. There are a few known issues reported, although these are unrelated to this particular game.
The driver has successfully passed WHQL tests, but since it’s not part of the official branch, AMD didn’t seek full certification from Microsoft. Gamers who have recently purchased the game are likely more concerned with the driver addressing any potential issues than its WHQL certification. However, those who prefer to stick with WHQL “stable” releases may need to exercise patience.
It’s worth mentioning that AMD is currently engaged in multiple driver-related efforts. This driver represents a third distinct release, in addition to the official branch and the separately available Fluid Motion Frame driver. Hopefully, it won’t be long before AMD consolidates these drivers and addresses the Anti-Lag+ issues that have arisen in recent weeks.

- Intermittent flicker may be observed on some textures while playing Alan Wake 2.
Known Issues
- Performance Metrics Overlay may report N/A for FPS on various games.
- Audio may intermittently become out of sync with video when recording from AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition with AV1 codec.
- Corruption may be observed in Forza Motorsport when RT is enabled.
- Intermittent flickering may be briefly observed in Total War: Pharaoh’s menus after changing graphics settings.
