AMD RX 7900 GRE gets a (small) discount in China

With the imminent release of the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT GPUs, board partners are recognizing the potential need for a slight adjustment in the pricing of the RX 7900 GRE.

According to a report from China, Sapphire has already taken steps to lower the price of the AMD RX 7900 GRE, despite the card having been launched just a month ago. Both the reference model and the custom NITRO+ series from Sapphire are now available at reduced prices.

The price revision is relatively modest, representing a marginal 4% decrease. The original price of the reference model, which stood at 5299 RMB (727 USD), has been revised to 5099 RMB (699 USD). Additionally, the NITRO variant now retails for 5299 RMB, down from the initial 5499 RMB (754 USD). It’s important to note that all price conversions mentioned include VAT.

Formally, the RX 7900 GRE is intended to be sold at $649 in the US, but this specific model is primarily accessible to system integrators, as it isn’t available for individual purchase as a DIY component.

While the price alteration is relatively minor and is unlikely to significantly impact the state of the Radeon RX 7000 series in the global market, potential buyers in China who were considering this model might find it more compelling to make the purchase now.

For those who still find the pricing hard to justify, it might be wise to await next week’s announcement regarding the Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT SKUs. These new cards are scheduled to be unveiled at Gamescom, although the precise availability date has yet to be confirmed.
