AMD officially launches its Radeon RX 7900 GPUs
Today is the day you can purchase the new Radeon GPUs based on RDNA3 architecture.
AMD is kicking off its new series with the high-end models first The company announced its RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT models a few weeks ago, but today is the day when those cards finally go on sale.
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX features full Navi 31 GPU with 6144 Stream Processors. This GPU has a boost clock up to 2.5 GHz, but reviewers have shown that this frequency can go much higher – it all depends on the workload. The maximum compute performance is measured at 61 TFLOPs.
The XTX variant features 24GB of GDDR6 memory and has a TDP 355W. This is the flagship model that requires 800W power supply and two of the standard 8-pin power connectors. However, the vast majority of custom cards will require three.
AMD RX 7900 XT features a cut-down Navi 31 GPU with 5376 cores. The memory size is reduced to 20GB which also means narrower memory bus of 320-bit. With clock speed up to 2.4 GHz, AMD estimates compute performance up to 52 TFLOPs. The company has made a last-minute change to the specs by adding 15W to the total board power. It is now 315W, so just 40W lower than the XTX GPU.
