Update
Nicehash has refuted the rumor. The developer of the mining software expects Radeon RX 6800 to perform ‘slightly better than RX 5700’;
Realistically speaking and based on RX 6800 specification, we should expect hashrate to be somewhere in the range of 50MH/s – 70MH/s. Slightly higher than RX 5700 XT.
Original Story
AMD Radeon RX 6800 1.5x faster than GeForce RTX 3090 in mining
According to a message posted on QQ (and reprinted by Chiphell), AMD Radeon RX 6800 non-XT is 1.5x faster in cryptocurrency mining than GeForce RTX 3090.
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3090 is currently the best GPU in terms of profit (including electricity cost), according to the Nicehash profitability calculator. It is estimated that the GPU can generate 3.37 USD worth of cryptocurrency each day, reaching 100 USD per month.
If the rumor about 1.5x better mining performance of Radeon RX 6800 is true, then the graphics card could potentially reach 5 USD per day. That of course applies to a single GPU, The profitability increases dramatically when the GPU cost is considered. The RX 6800 non-XT MSRP is only 579 USD, while RTX 3090 costs at least 1499 USD.
Please note that we were unable to confirm this rumor, as the Radeon RX 6800 series review sample allocation is very limited right now. We do hope that this is not entirely true, as another GPU mining craze is certainly not desired right now. Both manufacturers, NVIDIA and AMD, are expected to struggle with their supply in the foreseeable future.
Message from Lean (QQ):
AMD 6800 card just arrived, mining performance at default is amazing, it reached 1.5 times performance of 3090, or even more. I guess non of you will be able to buy this card…. what tests you guys want to see?
