AMD announces the first Ryzen 7000 with 3D V-Cache
The company has announced a new mobile processor at ChinaJoy 2023.
AMD Dragon Range platform is expanding, with just one processor model and just for one laptop. The Ryzen 9 7945HX3D is a 16-core Zen4 mobile CPU with a base clock of 2.3 GHz and boost up to 5.4 GHz. This means that the base clock is 200 MHz lower than the existing Ryzen 9 7945HX. The CPU operates within 55 to 75W, and it has been equipped with 128MB of L3 cache.
According to AMD, the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D has lower maximum operating temperature than 7945HX, instead of 100°C, one should expect 89°C. This is the same Tjmax as the desktop parts.
AMD claims that their new SKU will be on average 15% faster than the existing 7945HX SKU. Furthermore, gamers may see up to 23% improvement, while the CPU is locked to 40W TDP and 11% when using 70W TDP spec.

AMD confirms that the processor will be exclusive to one laptop only, the ASUS ROG Scar 17 X3D which was indeed the only system that popped up earlier mentioning such part. This explains why there were no other systems. This gaming laptop packs up to GeForce RTX 4090 and is unlikely to be offered at a low price, considering one is looking at a flagship AMD mobile processor.

It is reported that AMD has no plans for other Dragon Range SKUs with 3D V-Cache, which is indeed a shame. The 7945X3D will remain exclusive to Scar 17 X3D system, which is scheduled to launch on August 22nd.
