AMD FSR 2.1 in Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red is rolling out a major update for Cyberpunk 2077 today, finally enabling FSR 2.1 support.

This temporal upscaling technology will now be supported on PC and what is described as ‘next-gen’ consoles. Of course, this means current-gen consoles such as XBOX Series X/S or PlayStation 5.

Gamers can now choose between NVIDIA DLSS2 currently only working on RTX GPUs or FSR 2.1 by AMD, which is supported by a much wider range of modern GPUs, even from Intel and NVIDIA.

The game still did not receive the DLSS 3.0 patch that was demoed with GeForce RTX 40 launch two months ago. One might guess that FSR 2.1 patch was much more important to CDPR because it affects more gamers than DLSS 3.0 tech, which is only supported by RTX 4090 GPUs.

This is not the first game to support FSR on consoles, though. The most recent one was Scorn and PS5’s Arcadegeddon.

Cyberpunk 1.61 patch (not full changelog)

  • Added support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1 (PC and next-gen consoles only).
  • Fixed an issue where in specific circumstances Judy could disappear from the game while in her apartment.
  • Fixed an issue where the Wardrobe interaction in the Nomad Camp was duplicated after skipping time there.
  • It will no longer be possible to play on arcade machines that are placed horizontally.
