AMD FidelityFX SDK 1.0 is now available for download

The company today launches its Software Development Kit for FidelityFX, providing an easy-to-use library for game developers to integrate AMD tech into their games.

Gamers may recognize “FidelityFX” mainly from one technology, the Super Resolution. This technology along with their alternatives from competitors have no doubt changed the GPU industry as we know it. However, “FSR” is not the only component of the AMD FidelityFX library, in fact, it just a part of it.

AMD has its version of NVIDIA GameWorks middleware software that encompasses many technologies into one library, giving game developers easier access, and faster implementation path for each. Until now, there was no easy way to add these technologies together, as each tool was available through a separate package.

Back in March at GDC 2023, AMD announced it will release its first FidelityFX SDK, that should eventually add technologies like FSR 3.0. Unfortunately, that technology is not yet available, but the SDK has gone public today.

Game developers can download the FidelityFX suite and AMD is providing an extensive documentation serving as a manual with examples and guides on how can each technology improve graphics and visuals. AMD has ensured that the SDK has a consistent style for game developers to quickly dig into.

Furthermore, AMD launched three new technologies that were also added to the SDK, which now features 13 different technologies.

New FidelityFX technologies:

  • AMD FidelityFX Blur 1.0
A library of highly optimized functions which perform common blurring operations such as Gaussian blur, radial blurs, and others.
  • AMD FidelityFX Depth of Field 1.0
Implements a high-quality DOF filter complete with bokeh.
  • AMD FidelityFX Lens 1.0
Implements a library of optimized lens effects including chromatic aberration, film grain, and vignetting.

Existing FidelityFX technologies:

  • AMD FidelityFX CACAO (aka AMD FidelityFX Ambient Occlusion) 1.3
  • AMD FidelityFX CAS 1.1
  • AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR)
  • AMD FidelityFX LPM (aka AMD FidelityFX HDR Mapper) 1.3
  • AMD FidelityFX Parallel Sort 1.2
  • AMD FidelityFX SPD (aka AMD FidelityFX Downsampler) 2.1
  • AMD FidelityFX SSSR (aka AMD FidelityFX Screen Space Reflections) 1.4 and AMD FidelityFX Denoiser 1.2
  • AMD FidelityFX Variable Shading 1.1
  • AMD FidelityFX Hybrid Reflections 1.1
  • AMD FidelityFX Hybrid Shadows 1.1

Developers and graphics enthusiasts can now download the SDK from the link below (it is only 129MB in size).
