QuasarZone reported that they attended the press event last month and were shown a slide with AMD claims on Threadripper PRO 7995WX potential scores. The current world record at that time was 147668 points, which was achieved using a dual EPYC platform with 192 cores. During the same event, AMD demonstrated that the Threadripper PRO 7995WX, which features 96 Zen4 cores, has the potential to achieve a higher score of 148K points.
The AMD Overclocking Team has also presented two world records, which feature air/vapor chamber powered cooling and later liquid cooling. Both set the bar higher at 161K and later at 167K. During those tests, the Zen4 based CPU reached temperatures above 106°C and 985W of power, almost fully utilizing the 1000W limit imposed by the AMD Ryzen Master software.
During the October event, AMD asserted that their CPU could achieve even higher performance. Specifically, the CPU has the potential to reach 184,028 points in the Cinebench R23 multi-core test, likely involving the use of liquid nitrogen or other exotic cooling methods. It’s noteworthy that this accomplishment has not been officially confirmed, and there is currently no submission on the HWBOT website.

According to reviewers, the 96-core Threadripper PRO 7995WX can score 118K points with air cooler and 148K with water cooling. It can go up to 177K points with liquid nitrogen. Those values were shared by Japanese publication MyNavi who were unable to replicate AMD achievement.
Threadripper PRO 7995WX OC (Cinebench R23):
- Air cooling: 118,642
- Water cooling: 148,053
- LN2: 177,050
- AMD’s Claimed WR: 184,028
Of course, only overclockers and reviewers will attempt extreme overclocking with such an expensive processor. This SKU will cost staggering $9,999 once it hits the shelves, which should be tomorrow. There are a limited number of reviews available for this particular CPU; however, one can still learn more by reading the reviews in our roundup provided here.
