B550 motherboards launch on June 16th

Just as we were discussing B450 motherboard support for Ryzen 4000 series, Wccftech has reported on the B550 launch date. According to the site, the B550 motherboards will launch on June 16th with an announcement expected on May 21st.

The truth is, probably no one expected that we will have to wait almost a year for new mid-range Ryzen motherboards. While the X570 motherboards have quickly replaced the X470 the latter have also become an interesting mid-range option considering the price.

AMD has released microcode update for Ryzen 3000 series support for existing motherboard series (such as B450 or X470). Initially, some motherboards even supported PCIe Gen 4.0 but eventually, that ‘feature’ was disabled due to technical reasons.

Thus, the B550 will be AMD’s first mid-range motherboards with native PCIe 4.0 support. We have already posted the first picture of the B550 motherboard from SOYO. Note, this is not the B550A motherboard, which is basically a rebranded B450.
