Please note that this post is tagged as a rumor.

AMD could already be developing its fourth generation of RDNA architecture.

AMD NAVI 41 (RDNA 4X?)

A new rumor has surfaced from a respected leaker Komachi. According to his information, AMD could already be working on yet another NAVI product codenamed Navi 41. Komachi’s sources are usually reflected in actual evidence (he tends to lurk into files no one would dare to look into), so whatever he found must have left a trace.

AMD is currently preparing for Navi 21 launch, based on RDNA 2X architecture, a successor to RDNA 1X. Komachi has already mentioned in his previous tweets that AMD is also working on Navi 31, a topic that is certainly popular this week.

But first, let’s look at what Komachi posted today (after his break from leaking):

1.Stones is something close to Floyd. I think It could be a custom Genoa.
2.Raphael is probably a Zen 4 CPU.
3.Phoenix (PHX) is something of a Zen 4. Details is yet.
4.NV3X GCD/MCD means probably Graphics Complex Die/Memory Complex Die of Navi 3X (Navi 31).
5. Mero is custom, confirmed.
6. Navi 2X Family has Navi 24 (like the MI200, it hasn’t been taped out yet).
7. There is Navi 41.

Latest rumors from Komachi

Navi 21

Rumors on the second generation RDNA architecture are slowly shaping into something more concrete. Over the past few weeks, we learned that Big Navi is supposedly featuring 80 Compute Units (that’s the full chip), which would translate into a maximum core count of 5120.

Meanwhile, leakers from Asia are now believing that Navi 21 would be available in 16GB and 12GB variants. That of course would be GDDR6 memory.

The bad news is other sources (linked below) are reporting that no orders have been made on the chip production, meaning the earliest possible date for its launch would be November. AMD is also expected to launch its reference models sooner than custom models from their partners.

Navi 31

Not much is known about the Navi 21 successor, but the most recent rumor from PC_Shopping forums mentions a revolutionary GPU design. Although this statement is rather empty in detail, it might mean that AMD Is preparing to use a multi-die design similar to Zen architecture.

Interestingly, AMD has not confirmed the fabrication node of RDNA 3X architecture. The most recent official roadmap is still showing ‘advanced node’. This is likely because Navi 31 will use a mix of different nodes for GPUs and interconnecting chips. Thus, Navi 31 is expected to be a chiplet design.
