Along with Ryzen 2000 series, new GPU and CPU roadmaps and an introduction of X470 motherboard chipset, AMD also introduced new pricing for existing Ryzen processors.
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X is now 150 USD cheaper
Some of the holiday sale prices have been made permanent. The Ryzen 7 1800X, the fastest Ryzen CPU with 8 cores and 16-threads supported by X370 motherboards will now cost 349 USD, that’s even less than Ryzen 7 1700 at launch (399 USD). Unfortunately, a CPU we could call a dual 8-core — Ryzen Threadripper 1950X — which features 16-cores, has not received a price cut (despite the fact that it was available for as little as 799 USD during holidays).
The Ryzen 5 6-core CPUs have both dropped 30 USD in price. The slower variant (R5 1600) will now cost less than 200 USD, competing directly with Intel’s i5-8400.
The price reduction list lacks Ryzen 3 1200 and Ryzen 5 1400 CPUs, which were actually the last Ryzen non-Threadrippers to be released last year. They were replaced by Ryzen 5 2400G and Ryzen 3 2200G respectively, which feature Radeon RX Vega integrated GPUs on board.
