AMD Radeon RX 570 and 580 exposed

We have some very interesting pictures to share with you today.

AMD Radeon RX 570

Two cards were pictured in this leak. The first one is Radeon RX 570. Judging from the alignment of all components, it appears that Radeon RX 570 will use the exact same PCB as Radeon RX 480/470 series. This board has a 6-pin power connector. Reference design also lacks DVI port, but that should not be a problem since RX 570 will also be available with custom PCBs. Assuming that this picture is real, then it undoubtedly confirms that Radeon RX 570 has Polaris graphics processor.

AMD Radeon RX 580

What’s probably more interesting is that pictures of Radeon RX 580 have also been posted. This engineering sample has never been seen before. The board number C940 has a new design, and it appears the reference Radeon RX 580 will ship with 8-pin power connector. This will allow Radeon RX 580 to reach higher clock speeds at the expense of higher power consumption.

The engineering label was exposed and ASIC Type confirmed as Polaris. This sample was manufactured on March 3rd.

AMD Radeon RX 500 specifications

The GPU-Z screenshot was also provided with those photos. It appears that the specs for RX 570 we posted almost a month ago, match perfectly with this screenshot. AMD Radeon RX 570 would, therefore, feature 2048 Stream Processors, 128 TMUs and 32 ROPs. Just as there were RX 470s, there will be RX 570s with 8GB memory, but this particular model has 4GB memory installed.

Unlike competitor, AMD did not opt to increase the memory speed on new Polaris SKUs. The RX 570 4GB will feature 4GB GDDR5 memory rated at 7 GHz effective frequency. However, despite that fact, Radeon RX 500 series will still have higher bandwidth than GeForce GTX 1060 series (the 9Gbps edition has 216 GB/s bandwidth).

AMD Radeon RX 500 series are said to launch on April 18th, around the same time we expect GeForce 11GBps and 9Gbps editions to hit the shelves.
