AMD launches Radeon M400 series

AMD has quietly released first Radeon M400 graphics cards.

AMD Radeon M400

Graphics cards released today are most likely just rebrands. There is no R9 M480 for instance, which we confirmed as Polaris 11 part. There’s also R9 M485X based on Tonga, which apparently is faster than Polaris 11. Actually Polaris 11 has a huge gap to fill, so earlier rumors suggesting it has 14 CUs may not be very accurate.

Radeon R9 M490 series are omitted as well, this suggest we might expect Polaris 10 in this segment. With 2048+ Stream Processors.

Regardless of what was omitted, the most powerful part released today is Radeon R9 M485 which packs 2048 Stream Processors and 8GB GDDR5 memory. This is probably direct rebrand from Radeon R9 M395X.

Just for clarity, GPU codenames in this chart are not confirmed, we are also using desktop names, because barely anyone can remember their various mobile names.
