NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 specifications and performance leaked

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 specifications are finally here. The GTX 960 will sport 1024 CUDA cores and 32 ROPs.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 specifications

The heart of the GTX 960, Maxwell GM206, is the newest 28nm GPU designed by NVIDIA. The mid-range solution has 1024 CUDA cores, which is exactly half of what GTX 980 has to offer. This statement also translates in ROP count, which is 32 on GTX 960.

The clock speeds reported by GPUZ software are most likely inaccurate (the model is factory-overclocked), thus we will wait for final specs for reference model before adding them to the chart.

GeForce GTX 960 will launch with 2GB GDDR5 memory across 128-bit interface. There are some indications that GTX 960 may also launch with 4GB memory (like missing memory modules on PCBs).

The GPUZ reports 85 Texture Mapping Units, which for obvious reasons is also inaccurate. By comparing GM206 to GM204 architecture we conclude that GM206 has 64 TMUs. Whether this is the full chip, we don’t know.

The card is powered through single 6-pin power connector and the TDP is reported at 120W (unconfirmed).

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 performance

GeForce GTX 960 is not the fastest card around, but it’s definitely doing well in mid-range segment. The performance will be close to Radeon R9 280 and R9 285, but we still need to see how does this card perform at default clocks.
