Guys over at LaptopVideo2Go found some new entries in the latest drivers.
Tesla M(axwell) series
It looks like NVIDIA might have finally released a public driver with support for upcoming GM107 and GM204-based graphics card. First and foremost, we have new series called Tesla M. First card to use new naming scheme is Tesla M40, where M stands for Maxwell. This indicates that other series, like Quadro, will also begin with new the M prefix (Quadro M6000 etc.)
Tesla M40 will most likely utilize GM107 GPU, so it’s not the actual K40 successor.
Tesla K80
The new driver also revealed, what is supposedly the fastest Tesla currently in the making, Tesla K80. Few weeks ago, we found new dual-GK110 board in certification office. Judging from the data, it clearly had the same PCB as TITAN Z, so at first we thought it could actually be GTX 790. However, plans for ‘budget’ dual-GPU gaming card were supposedly dropped. In addition, the SKU number of this mysterious card clearly suggested it was Tesla. Fast forward to this day, and we have the first official trace of new GK110 graphics card, Tesla K80.
Last but not least, new drivers also added the support for many new cards, however due to lack of information about devices with IDs above 1400, we cannot say for sure what GPUs are being supported by this driver.
Most of IDs from 1400 to 17FF are most likely for Maxwell processors. We do not know which is GM204, but our bet is on 16XX and some portion of 17XX.
