MSI decided to quietly launch its GAMING edition of Radeon R9 280X altogether with the R9 280.
The 6GB variant of R9 280X GAMING is clocked at 1000/1050 MHz with a memory at 6GHz. Card is equipped with 6GB GDDR5 memory and 384-bit interface.
Radeon HD 7970 with 6GB has been around for many months. The reason to launch 6GB model right now was probably dictated by a very low availability of Tahiti GPUs because of mining popularity. MSI simply had no GPUs to use. At this point I’m not even sure if this card will be available in stores anytime soon (if you happen to find it, make sure to tell us in the comments).
By the way, this model has been listed on MSI website for at least two months, so there is no shocker here.
