Overclockers.co.uk have presented first Unigine Heaven benchmark results of Radeon HD 7950. Thanks to them, we now have the verified specification of reference Radeon HD 7950, which is to have core clock set to 810MHz.
Retailer has put Radeon HD 7950 through few tests, then the card was overclocked and tested again. There are also benchmarks obtained with higher resolution and with modified BIOS, right from ASUS HD 7970.
After flashing Radeon HD 7950 a great boost of performance was noticed. Although, GPU-Z does not confirm any unlocked shaders, card gains in performance significantly. With modified BIOS, card is much faster than GeForce GTX 580. It is actually as fast as Radeon HD 7970. So you may now wonder if it’s worth buying HD 7970. According to those tests it is not.
Overclockers have priced a reference model of Radeon HD 7950 at £350 ($540), but this only the starting price, because this model will be available at $449. There is also a 1.5GB variant coming in March, which will be priced at $399. Non-reference models are yet to be released later this month.
