According to a report compiled by Jon Peddie Research (JPR), the global graphics market (which includes GPUs, IGPs and CPU+GPU combo chips aka APUs) has returned to a more predictable path in Q3, with shipments growing by 16.7% sequentially and by 18.4% compared to the same period of 2011.

Thanks to continuous success of its Sandy Bridge chips, Intel managed to grab an even bigger share of the graphics market in Q3, reaching 60.4% after being at 54.8% in Q2. Unfortunately AMD’s performance wasn’t as promising despite the arrival of the Llano APUs. In fact, AMD slipped quite bit, settling at 23% after reaching 24.4% in Q2.

Nvidia still hold the third place in the graphics market with a 16.1% share. The Santa Clara company went down from 20.1% in Q2 mostly due to its exit from the IGP market (its discrete business grew though).

In Q3 S3 Graphics had a 0.5% market share while Matrox only grabbed 0.04%.
