GeForce 8800 GS – a new weapon of NVIDIA

Before we even see the new GeForce cards 9, we next refresh the already existing in the market for more than a year GeForce 8800. NVIDIA is preparing new weapons that will serve it in the fight against Radeonami HD 3850 and 3870, thus fulfilling the gap between the GeForce 8600 GTS and 8800 GT. This will be the 8800 GS graphics card as previously announced GeForce 8700.

The new GeForce 8800 GS will be based on manufactured in 65 nm technology of G92 chip with 192-bit memory interface. It will be equipped in 96 units cieniujących and complies with the PCI Express specification 2.0. A strong GPU will be 575 MHz and shadery will work with 2.5x higher clock, resulting in a 1,438 MHz. Processor on the card will be accompanied by a 384 MB GDDR3 1700 MHz.

Interestingly, the networks already circulate preliminary benchmark results GeForce 8800 GS – in 3DMark05 it received 16,661 points (on an Intel Core 2 Quad, taktowanym clock 3 GHz), while in 3DMark06 – 9,540 points.

The new card should cost around 150-180 dollars – but this is only conjecture, since the prices have not yet been officially announced. On the shelf GeForce 8800 GS see at the beginning of next year
