MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition Reviewed

No it’s not my review (MSI hates me). It’s the El Chapuzas Informatico, a Spanish news portal that has already posted a full review (actually more like a gallery) of GTX 660 Ti from MSI.

The card that was recently described by me, is MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition. The model which factory-overclocked and features higher TDP than reference one. I’m not going to translate what they wrote though, I will stick to the photos and benchmarks that they posted, so you can judge it by yourself.

I only post this, because it’s the first official benchmark of GTX 660 Ti, even though NDA is not yet lifted…

The games that they posted include Dirt3, Battlefield 3, Dirt Showdown and Skyrim. GTX 660 Ti only loses in Battlefield 3 in case of the framerate and compared to GTX 680 (I find this quite interesting). I like the bar of GTX660Ti PE in Dirt3, but I cannot explain how is that possible. Maybe if I would receive a sample for review I could make the card beat GTX 690, who knows.

Almost the same card as a 670 but with 192 bit bus, how could it possibly perform so close to the 680 and 7970? I guess AF and AA was turned off in these tests and the resoution at 1680!!

Well, these benchmarks lead me to zero conclusions other than not to outright believe in their methodology. They make no sense whatsoever to in the gaming benches. Up is Down, Left is Right. 7870 HAWK and 660 Ti are best cards multiple tiers higher in some instances…no.

    100% messed up review.

HD7870 beating MSI Lightning 7970 in SKYRIM and BF3? You know that’s pretty much impossible.

Secondly, GTX660Ti is beating GTX680 MSI Lightning in SKYRIM? That’s also pretty much impossible.

I am waiting for a reputable website. The card itself looks very good quality though. MSI makes awesome TwinFrozr cards.

    Exactly.

Is easy: MSI 660 Ti overclocked to 1234 MHz for GPU and 7012 MHz memos.

Ya that review has already been shown to be BS now that final reviews launched.

    Even at 1322mhz a GTX660Ti can’t beat a stock 670:

So ya, no way that card could have ever beaten a 7970 Ghz edition or GTX680 Lightning! Also that review was showing 7870 beating 7970 in some games. It was 100% wrong.

We now know exactly what 660Ti’s performance is and it falls 15-17% below a 670 at 1080P:

It’s not a miracle. This is what many of us have stated: 24 ROPs / 192 bit arrangement would make sure the 660Ti stays well below a 670 with MSAA.
