That benchmark doesn’t use AA, this one does.

In the video he uses 4X MSAA. Its natural for this card to run slower with 4X MSAA. Anyways tweaktown was right, this card rocks without MSAA. HELL YEAH!

At first glance, the subheading on the graph leads you to think it doesn’t use AA, but there are 2 different bars for each card, 1 bar without AA, 1 bar with 4x AA. The GTX 670 at 1920×1200 w/4x MSAA is at 72.43 and 100.77 without. I assume these are averages.

Yup. Even at 1440p/1600p, it will perform in between a 7950 and a 7970.

General rule I’ve noticed is knock off around 10-15 FPS when playing on a 64 player server and in heavy action, but I’m not sure if this applies at all resolutions.

I think what he meant is this card will take a larger hit with MSAA applied vs a card with larger memory bandwidth like the 670.

Looking at that benchmark, they’re indeed very close.

Totally false, this sits between a 7870 and a 7950… not a 7950 and a 7970 you guys are dreaming.

I don’t understand the physics comment since there is no PhysX in BF3. Also the 15-30% faster price/performance is also odd since both 7950 880mhz+ and 7970 / 7970 GE cards cost much less than 670/680, respectively.

1) The physics in BF3 is 100% driven by the CPU, and has nothing to do with the graphics card.

2) HD7950 at > 1.0ghz+ starts to approach a GTX680 in BF3 with latest Cats 12.7. A lot of 7950s can hit 1.1-1.2ghz which would pass a 680. At 1.25ghz, the 7950 is 10% faster than a GTX680 in BF3. That would leave 660Ti no chance whatsoever with its crippled 24 ROPs and 192-bit bus unless one overclocks it to 1.4ghz+:

3) HD7970 Ghz Edition (GE) costs less than stock 680 card in both Europe and North America. Performance wise, HD7970 stock is faster than the 670 at 2560×1600 and 7970 GE is basically tied at 1080P but actually beats the 680 in BF3:

I think you should compare the cards using more up-to-date reviews with recent drivers.

lol some ppl actually think this card might stand up to HD 79xx. Well sure if you take a look @ Heaven bench you’ll get the picture what will happen with 8xAA in games. Stock HD 7950 did not get too far away and get a score of around 1k but @ 1100mhz core and 1600mhz on memory gave it a significant boost 49FPS vs 660 36FPS so basically 192-bit memory bus is holding card back with high AA.
As for 3dmark11 score it’s performance test runs @ 1280×720 don’t think you gonna play @ that resolution http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4077207
