Lower Prices For Radeon HD 7000 Series Graphics Cards

Lower Prices For Radeon HD 7000 Series Graphics Cards radeon 7000
AMD annoucnes the new prices for their flagship models. This is few weeks after the previous cuts and it looks like AMD is preparing their lineup for NVIDIA’s upcoming mid-range lineup, so that people will still grab some AMD products before that.

Prices will go into effect on Monday, July 16:

  • Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition – $499
  • Radeon HD 7970 – $429
  • Radeon HD 7950 – $349
  • Radeon HD 7870 – $299

Here’s the comparison to the launch prices and the cheapest offers I could find on Newegg.

 Launch PriceNew priceNewegg Offers
Radeon HD 7970$549$429$429
Radeon HD 7950$449$349$339
Radeon HD 7870$349$299$289

If you were waiting for GeForce GTX 660, then you might find this offers attractive. Nevertheless, it’s always better to wait those three weeks to see how GTX 660 performs.

I like that newegg comparison, prolly wont age well with the article tho.
Sad that we arent seeing similar price drops from the green team. Guess thats heads up for the guys waiting on gtx 660, get it soon as it comes out, price aint going anywhere for awhile.

If only the msi 7970 lightening was $429 i’d buy it right now.

It’s sad the 7850 is excluded from every round of price drop.

Just a guess, but I think this is an offensive move, knowing the green team is just about to release some powerful mid-range cards that will have a lot of people questioning the cost/performance ratio of AMD. They’re trying to get late buyers to not wait the last few weeks.

  • Tinos

Possibly price reduction in lieu of upcoming 7990? :-D

  • Mitch

Huh…I hope that newegg drops their price more due to the stock price drop…surly they will…

I think AMD prepare launch of 7970GHZ and the rumored 7950GHZ, the prices are more fair, but still a bit high, expect some price drop from NVIDIA too when whole 600 series are out.

Newegg’s prices are already well below MSRP for the 7800/7900 series.

For example, here is an excellent HD7850 MSI TwinFrozr for $210 after MIR:

It’s the best card in the $180-$240 range. It doesn’t need any price drop.

HD7870 is once again the best card in the $280-300 range. So it also doesn’t need any more price drops:

Here is even a HIS HD7870 with 6% off and rebate = $270:
