ASUS Readies Radeon HD 7950 DirectCU II V2

ASUS Readies Radeon HD 7950 DirectCU II V2 radeon 7950 new card
ASUS is preparing their new flagship model Radeon HD 7950 DirectCU II V2. This is in fact an updated version of already available HD 7950 DirectCU II models (including TOP variant).

According to the source cards will be named as ASUS Radeon HD 7950 DirectCU II V2, also known as overclockers dream. The new updated models will provide a huge potential in increasing the framerates. The cooler itself was updated to hold six heatpipes, instead of five in actual model. The cooler shroud has some cosmetic changes, not to say the whole card requires at least three slots. In comparison to previous model, cooler is wider and coveres the whole PCB.

ASUS HD 7950 DirectCU II V2 will be available in two variants, TOP model’s core clock will be overclocked to 900 MHz (memory 5000 MHz), while non-TOP will arrive with stock 800 MHz.

The DirectCU II V2 cards are expected in August with a price tag of actual V1 models, which basically means that V1 will be available for lower price.

Nice improvement. But August? Why so long? Even HD7970 Ghz editions are still not launched this week despite AMD promising availability starting July 1st. Also, I would have expected 1 Ghz clock speeds for V2 versions. 900mhz for TOP card is way too conservative for more mature 7950 revisions. I still think August is too late. All this time GTX670 is slaughtering the 7950. These revision 2 cards should come out ASAP.

I was even going to buy V1 for myself, but went with Gigabyte GTX 670 WF3 anyway. I read that first version had some problems with the fans, which generated some annoying noise. Not worth the risk.
If I see it right, they made them wider on V2, so this issue may be gone.

Wow nice :) I thought you weren’t into $400+ GPUs hehe. Gigabyte WF3 is one of the better 670s. How are you enjoying yours?

Will tell you when i receive it, actually I was about to write a review, but don’t know if that’s a good idea since the card is quite old already :) (and i payed for it $475 :/)

VideoCardz.com(Admin)?, i read you have a GXT 670, can you please answer a question that i had in mind?
The holes space where chip is located are same as gtx 570(58x58mm)?
Im thinking to buy one, and put a accelero xtreme plus v1, but in main website says nothing about it….

Sorry I didn’t read your comment earlier.
I’m not sure, because I don’t have my GTX 670 yet (only ordered).
Unless you mean the longer board, which is the same as GTX 680, then mounting holes are 58x58mm
