and here I was hoping for a realistic price.

  • oreshke

    where hd 7990??? :{

  • http://videocardz.com/ VideoCardz.com

Still, there’s HIS 7970X2 and ASUS MARS 3 (this will cost ~$1,500).

  • http://videocardz.com/ VideoCardz.com

I’m really doubtful, if we ever see such card.

  • oreshke

why? they promised to show at on Computex 2012 :(
or is it just a rumor?

  • Kevin Lane

This card is mother of god overpriced >.<

  • BestJinjo

AMD themselves never promised HD7990 at Computex.

  • BestJinjo

All 3 of the aforementioned cards are overpriced. It’s almost laughable that GTX690 now seems rather “cheap” at $1000. Who would have thought in just 1 generation we’d go from $700 GTX590/HD6990 to $1000-1500 cards. hhehe

  • BestJinjo

Yup. It takes about 1050-1070mhz HD7970 to match a stock GTX680. Thus 1050mhz HD7970 X2 won’t be any faster than a GTX690, which will be quieter, consume probably 150-200W less power and have better drivers.

  • francmic

I share nearly the same sentiment regarding the 690, THIS cards pricing is making it much more appealing. Though I do think that the MARS III will still find a market due to its exclusivity and remarkable 2 slot form factor. Come on HIS, bring in a ringer.

In the end, it will be more reasonable to buy Quad-SLI GTX 660 config.

I wanted an uber mini-itx rig for fractal’s node 304(coming soon) T.T, I move alot

While I was considering a CM Cosmos II for a testing rig

  • francmic

If you spend money with such whimsy that you would consider the cosmos II, maybe buying a couple 7970×2 devil 13′s isn’t such a lofty goal XD. As a side note, a solid block of gpus never looked so sexy.

I just found a tomshardware article saying 1000$… though the phrasing sounds speculative. What do you make of it?

  • http://videocardz.com/ VideoCardz.com

I’m just looking around for a good chassis, Cosmos 2 looks sexy. But I have others:
    - AEROCOOL PGS XPREDATOR black

    - AEROCOOL Strike-X ST – black

    - Cooler Master HAF 922
    - Cooler Master HAF X NVIDIA edition

Which would you chose for a review machine? Other suggestions are welcome, I’m just into this black mesh stuff.

BTW my favorite one is this (would chose AMD version as well) – but interior is not painted :(

    ($1200 + $1000)/2 = $1100 seems legit

  • francmic

So this is how press makes estimates XD. I dunno, I figure the toms article was about 2x longer and it had pictures, so I’d figure they’d have 2x influence on the legitness scale. Abit of math((1000×2)+(1200×1))/3=$1066 :3 I’d buy that.

  • francmic

I’m but a small pennies consumer, I have a hard time making any such recommendation. Maybe a decent test bench would do you good?

  • http://videocardz.com/ VideoCardz.com

Yeah I will buy a test bench as well. Don’t think that I would spend a large amount of money on this (I have never had a pc worth more than $1000), but I just have no other option.
BTW, other tech websites are getting almost every pc component for free. While I have to buy everything by myself :)

  • BOSS

Not right. GTX690 is double-Kepler not double GTX680 instead of this graphic is real double so it will kick GTX690 its ass, noob.

  • BestJinjo

I don’t even know what you meant. GTX690 = 2x GTX680s with slightly downclocked GPU speeds.

    GTX680 = GK104 Kepler.

Benchmarks for the PowerColor HD7990 X2 card are out and at 1000mhz each, it didn’t beat a GTX690 as I said 3 months ago!
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_7990_Devil_13/27.html

That’s interesting that you called me a “noob” when what I said exactly came true: It will take a 1050mhz HD7990 X2 to match GTX690 since SLI drivers have better scaling.

  • BestJinjo

Did you end up buying that sexy CM Cosmos II case? :)

  • http://videocardz.com/ VideoCardz.com

I was hoping to show it during my first review, but since all manufacturers just don’t send me any cards I guess it’s not an option for now.
Anyway I bought AC X-predator, in white version. It’s the sexiest case I have ever seen, but I think it’s worth every penny spent on it. Money I didn’t spend on the case went for a white korean monitor, together it just looks perfect :)
The funny thing, the only non-black-and-white pc component I have is the blue backplate of the graphics cards, god, I even have black and white sata cables :)

Looks nice in white! You are going to have to get a black PCB or a white KFA series card with white PCB now :) (I personally don’t care to color coordinate. haha nothing in my case matches).
