NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 To Be Released On March 22nd, Available For $549

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 To Be Released On March 22nd, Available For $549 geforce gtx 680
According to forum post on Overclock.net, NVIDIA will release their flagship graphics card on 22nd March. Specifications were also confirmed.

Userblackbalt89 has posted an information that GeForce GTX 680 will be released on 22nd March. He had a chance to see EVGA Presentation and talk to one of employees. EVGA confirms that GeForce GTX 680 will have 1536 CUDA cores, will be equipped with 2GB of GDDR5 memory and require two 6pin power connectors. What is new is Thermal Design Power measured at 190 Watts.

GeForce GTX 560 Ti, GTX 570 and GTX 580 are getting price cuts up to $50 (GTX 580 is already available at lower price). GeForce GTX 680 will be available for $549.

NVIDIA’s performance segment will not be refreshed until may, so GeForce GTX 570 it not getting any replacement for now.

According to Fudzilla the card that will be released on 22rd March is GeForce GTX 680. GeForce GTX 670 Ti was apparently a name used internally by NVIDIA. NVIDIA decided to use GTX 680 instead due to lower than expected performance of Radeon HD 7000 series. Nevertheless, plans for GTX 670 Ti release were not dropped, but the card is not expected till late April.

Other than the price (which is expected given the 28nm shortages/yield problems), it’s most amazing that NV’s GTX680 will beat HD7970 despite 72GB/sec lower memory bandwidth, only 1536 SPs vs. 2048 SPs, with lower power consumption and smaller die size.

Looks like AMD is about to get p0wned!! Can’t wait for 2304 SP, 384/512-bit GTX780 monster. Just hope we get more demanding games and prices come down by Q3.

    when can we pre order

I think official Launch Date is March 23rd. I would imagine you might be able to buy cards around that time, but realistically probably around April. Of course this depends in what country you reside. Russkii ti?

There are  a lot peaple here that are  stupid fanboys , especialy from part of  Nvidia .Everybody are happy  with GTX680 is more stronger than HD7970 .But the GTX680 are later 4 months. Only stupid peaple willl say , the nvidia didnt got any advantage with all this time.
If was true why nvidia didnt put GTX680 early?Simple , wanst ready , this can mean too , not powererfull enough.(why dont you ask for then?)
The true is, AMD got a lot of money with that.
Well well, For me i dont care.
My next system ,will be in 3d glass. And the best choice is Nvidia.
     1*  i already have a monitor with 120Hz
2* I must to upgrade my GPU ,,and this can be a Nvidia or AMD.
3  i only must to buy Nvidia Glasses.

So ,as i am not a stupid fanboy , i will buy what is better for me in 3D ,and games like BF3 , GTR2 ,rFactor  are games that i really want the best quality and performance.
And as AMD let the 3 patherner take care of the 3d driver ,and they suck ,, i will chooise the Nvidia.
But not now becouse even GTX680 and HD7970 dont have the performance that i want in 3d mode.
Probably at GTX780 or even GTX880.
That i hope  to get 80% more performance thant Gtx680.  I hate to play under 120fps. and in 3d its impossible to get all time at full quality at 120fps.

” But not now becouse even GTX680 and HD7970 dont have the performance that i want in 3d mode.  Probably at GTX780 or even GTX880.”
That’s why the news that GK104 with 320mm^2 die size and only 256-bit bus being able to trade blows with HD7970 is great. For now, you can wait out the $550 inflated pricing for GTX680/HD7970, while NV readies the 40% more powerful GTX780 and AMD is quietly preparing a response. The unknown here is the timing of both of those releases. It might be summer or even stretch into Q3/Q4.

Either way, I think this generation will see more than usual increases from refresh parts, similar to what we saw from:

    7800GTX 256mb –> 7900GTX
    and
    X1800XT –> X1950XTX

Both of those historical examples highlight that sometimes a refresh can pack a very large performance increase (not the usual 15% faster). Given that HD7970 is severely underclocked from the factory and GK110 is MIA, it seems there is a high chance that we’ll see some nice refreshes this generation (not the yawn that was HD5870 –> HD6970 or GTX480 –> GTX580).

So in the of this year will be more GPUs? What hell, Nvidia are pretty late.
Think as me,  i buy a NV card ,at march ,than  in desember NV make a new GPU. Only 8 months later.
Well, for this reason not worth to buy now a GPU ,and this means, NV lost a huge money.
for should to 1 year one new GPU.
( i buy gpu in Jan and than one year late i buy another one)
But less time than this ,is the worst thing in the world.
That said, this means . not is important  NV got the best GPU  and a lot peaple dont buy it.
and becouse AMD did on right time ,and a lot peaple got their GPU ,and 4 months NV got the best GPU, but as will be a new GPU in 6 months , peaple like me will wait to buy this new GPU.
Becouse who got a GTX580 can wait for GTX780 … i can say for myself , i have the HD5870 ,and i still can play pretty well. Even on BF3  with all on low quality this game have a great graphycs ,and i get 90 fps of AVG , with my pc . and for me i want preformance.
My point of view is , i can buy a GTX680 ,but i dont want to replace it in less than 1 year, and as we know 1 gtx680 dont have the performance enough to run BF3 at max in 3d  at 120fps all times. So if i can wait i will wait becouse the gtx680 can hold a good performance, but if you ask to me if i want a new gpu , like GTX780 , my answer is :yes i want.
Who have 2 gtx590 , dont want to change for only 1 gtx680. This is my point.
and noone will buy a NV or AMD card now, knowing in 4 months will be a new GPU with more 30% of performance.
     (not a inteligent person).
And as i think this way and i am not the only one, NV lost a huge money. with this gtx680. becouse the new gpu will come to soon the gtx680.
This is like F1 , if you can run with a car from  2015  ,you will want to race with it not with a 1950 f1 car.
If you can buy a GTX780 and you dont care about the gtx680 y will get the GTX780.

Can i have te portal to the dimension where outpowered 680 gtx will beat much faster 7970 as you claim? Youre unbelieveable fan boy in complete denial if you ever believe in that bedtime story.

Judging by the spec’s, AMD is gonna shout “goodnight Nvidia” at launch day and forums are full on green russian putin trolls.

I understood you perfectly and agree wholeheartedly.. If you cannot read and or understand English head back to school, or try harder because he makes a very good point.

Sorry for my english , i know is pretty hard to understand me , when i am sirius.
Ofcourse not always is possible to use the google for translation, this is a shame, that is why is hard to speak in english for me.
And i hope what you said:
If you cannot read and or understand English head back to school, or try harder because he makes a very good point.
I hope was not for me.
And i hope everybody can understand my point of view.

I am not a fanboy. I am running 2x HD6970s right now. Check your facts next week. HD7970 will be great with 30% overclocking headroom. Stock for stock, GK104 will beat HD7970 in DX11 games. I never said GK104 will be “much faster”. I said it will beat HD7970 in performance/watt, performance/mm^2 and overall performance on average.

GCN is the first AMD architecture that for the first time in
AMD’s GPU design shifts the focus on Compute performance with DX11 rendering
rather than being a simple VLIW-4/5 architecture that can run DX11 code. AMD is
currently grappling with heat, power consumption and die space restrictions
that Nvidia went through with Fermi on 40nm. AMD was able to overcome some of
these issues by skipping 40 and 32nm nodes and waiting until 28nm node before
they could launch this new architecture. Still, HD7970 doesn’t consume any less
power at load than does an HD6970. Once HD7970 is overclock to 1200mhz, its
    power consumption rises very quickly.

On the other hand, Kepler is meant to be Nvidia’s 2nd
major Compute/DX11 generation, built from the “ground up”. There is a high
chance because Nvidia has already incorporated all the critical GPGPU and DX11
functionality into a unified shader architecture with Fermi, that they spend
the last 2 years working on improving performance/watt, performance/mm^2 and
increasing transistor density per die space with their Kepler design. In fact,
Nvidia themselves set this out as a target to increase compute performance by
3-4x from Fermi on a per watt basis all the way in 2010!!

AMD in many ways is still on their 1st generation
    dedicated compute/DX11 architecture with Tahiti.

Nvidia’s is positioned to easily surpass Tahiti in all
    metrics including performance/watt, performance / mm^2, DX11 performance,
performance/transistor. The only 2 areas where AMD will hold an advantage is
3GB of VRAM and perhaps overclocking.

Take that as you will. Those are just facts, not fanboism.
