Latest Radeon HD 6950 and 6970 Rumors
AMD is about to release new graphics cards series – Radeon 6900, which is expected around mid December. AMD and NVIDIA are doing their best to release products before Christmas – time is money. NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 570 will be released on 7th December. AMD will kick off with their new series, with are believed to compete with NVIDIA’s 500 Series.
Radeon HD 6950
First important information is ‘leaked’ specification which surfaced by Chinese websites. Radeon HD 6950 “Cayman Pro” will be equipped with 1536 stream processors and 32 raster operating units. Core clock is set to 800MHz by stock. Computing speed is measured at 2.4 TFLops. Radeon HD 6950 will support 2GB GDDR5 memory running on 256bit bus width. Memory clock is probably 1250MHz (5000 effective). This suggest memory bandwidth near 160GB/s. New Radeon will consume up do 217W of energy while in stress and 19W idle. In order to connect 6950 you will need 6pin connector. This card should have two DVI, one DisplayPort and HDMI outputs by default.
Radeon HD 6970
ChipHell has published screenshot of GPU-z of Radeon 6900 graphics cards. Specification suggest we are seeing Radeon HD 6970 here. GPU-z shows that Radeon HD 6870 will have 1600 stream processors (which is rather low – probably wrong program readings). Radeon HD 6970 will also have 32 raster units. Core clock will be running 890Mhz while memory will be set to 1375MHz by default. Bus width is same as in 6950 – 256bit, however, memory bandwidth is measured at 176GB/s.
UNIKA Radeon HD 6950 (6850?)
Lets start will latest pictures which are supposedly presenting new Radeon HD 6950 from Unika.

Some say it is actually Radeon HD 6850, what is actually making sense if you notice label ’6850′ at pictures..
Forums Rumors
We have also found interesing post on OverClockers.co.uk Forums, where user Gibbo already confirms information about Radeon’s 6900 Series pricing:
I have 6950 and 6970 stock shipping and I’ve paid for it.
I can tell you now the pricing will be:-6950 @ £270 – £300 Inc. VAT
6970 @ £360 – £400 inc. VATI have lots en-route.
Now the 5870′s are sub £200, thats £100 cheaper than a 6950 and same price as a 6870.
People will and are buying 5870′s now they are sub £200 becausepr at sub £200 there is no faster card.
5870 won’t be going £150 or lower, what would be the point, as then 6850/6870 would not sell.
Plus if you think 69xx cards are gonna be £200 then think again and look at my pricing above, again use common sense, why would 6950 be same price as a 6870?6950 competes with GTX 570/480 and is priced similar.
6970 competes with GTX 580 and is priced similar.
