SAPPHIRE HD 4670 GDDR4 Review @ ModersInc
Sapphire has re-released their popular 4670 card but this time they strayed from the reference card by ATI. A new cooler, GDDDR4 Memory and faster clock speeds help take this card to the next level, but is it really an improvement over the later card?
The newest 4670 model from Sapphire is based off the model they released earlier this year (our review of the 4670 HD GDDR3), but this one has a few twists and turns to along the way. The 4670 HD GDDR4 retail box is almost identical to its predecessor, but like the card inside, a few tweaks are applied. The most noticeable changes is the change of the memory type listed for the 512 mg of memory on the oblong sticker and the addition of a silver and blue round sticker announcing the quiet 20dBA cooling fan.
Packaged inside the colorful and information packed box you get all you need to get the 4670 HD up and running quickly. The crossfire connector is given to you in case you may be wanting to get another one to run a dual card Crossfire setup, which might not be a bad idea considering the lower price yet good performance of the card. The manual that comes with the card will help those that are not familiar with replacing a graphics card. A driver install CD is included and I normally suggest that you do use the drivers that come with a just released card as the monthly drivers you get from the manufacture may not be up to date for the card. Two DVD programs are given to you plus you get the Ruby ROM disk that comes with a few games, applications, screen savers and wallpapers. This time around the only extra hardware given to you is the CrossFire connector.
