Radeon HD 4890 X2?

Speculation is endless. The market introduction of the Radeon HD 4890 X2 based on two core RV 790 would literally smash competition – that is, NVIDIA and its GeForce GTX 295.

A representative of the group ATI / AMD has recently spoken on this issue quite negatively. “AMD is not and never had the intention to produce a Radeon HD 4890 X2, as it would be too high energy consumption.” But come rumors that nVidia is to ensure that they do not have nothing to fear at a time when preparing ATi Radeon HD 4890 X2.
As a fact, that we do not know yet. The real fight will begin when the market will be 40nm RV 8xx systems.

As we know, Radeon HD 4890 fills the gap between the current HD 4870 X2 and HD 4850 X2, but unfortunately can not compete with GTX’em 285. The Radeon 4890 X2 would give a red card in the dual picture. Let’s repeat only that the Radeon HD 4870 X2 costs $ 399 and HD 4890 X2 might cost $ 450.
