New ATI’s RV670 GPU
The networks are information and photos that shed some light on the latest GPU from ATI mark. A few days ago AMD released on the market Radeony HD 2900 Pro. Now, following the blow, AMD prepares to issue new cards next. A newly developed system, code named RV670 has hit the shelves of the average and help fill the gap between AMD currently available Radeonami HD 2600 and HD 2900.
At first glance, the processor RV670 seems to be very similar to the R600, on the basis of which are built Radeony HD 2900, but it will be produced in the new 55-nm technology. R600 systems built to order ATI plants components from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, and used to produce them is 80-nm process.
As manufacturers have reported the first ATI cards using the new processor – among them, MSI – RV670 can boast 600 MHz clock and 320 streams renderującymi. Its specifications are the same as a Radeon HD 2900. Copies of the test were equipped with 256 MB – originating from Hynix – GDDR3 memory taktowanej with the frequency 900 MHz, while cards based on R600 would be available to 512 MB or 1 GB of GDDR3 or GDDR4 memory.
A new version of the card is equipped with a small cooling system, which is not covered directly into the connector slot PCIe. Despite this, the device is a considerable size and has sześciopinowe socket to connect external power.
According to official data from AMD RV670 core will be compatible with the standards of Shader Model 4.1 and PCI Express 2.0. AMD makes it does not mention the use CrossFire, but on the pictures clearly shows distinctive joints.
It is expected that the cards based on RV670 will go to offer AMD in the first quarter of 2008. Producers for the time being refrain from disclosing the price of new Radeon. This is so probably because that NVIDIA plans at year-end issue a new card, intended for the same segment of the market.
