Demo of new DX10 ‘Ruby: Whiteout’, for the Radeon HD
The latest adventure of Ruby takes place in the raw, mountain terrain, where her driving skills on a board of snowboarding will be well-tested and may prove to be necessary to survive. Action on an unusually high pace and many effects is the basis of the demo, which shows the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, drawing a rich and vast landscapes consist of rocks, snow and ice. All results from the cumulative effect of snow on the slopes, the wrinkles on the forehead, and ending on physics, which determines the movement of fur at the collar Ruby, are supported by the latest engine R600.
To create expressive and fascinating character, the artists created 128 morph points to show faces of Ruby. All Mimic smallest movements are created by the GPU, which combines them in the final result. Ruby also uses a number of animated maps wrinkles to add its subtleties to brews, eyes, mouth and chin. Highly dynamic imaging techniques are widely used in a half Whiteout, to better reflect Highlights scenery, as well as the darkest corners of the ice accommodation Ruby. The advanced techniques are also scattering of light, which faithfully reflected are complex interactions of light snow and ice.
Whiteout demo requires Windows Vista, the ATI Radeon series cards equipped with HD
512 MB of video memory and a very efficient processor aided by at least 1GB of RAM.
